Nicotine patches have been ordered. Starting Sunday, gonna see how bad stopping vaping with their help will be.

Imagine my surprise when as I'm silently reading a long thread in the kitchen over my tea, my roommate mumbles from the other room, "The people in the kitchen speak differently than the people in the living room." Ominous.
And all of it of course ignores the massive environmental cost. Yes, if you set up your looping harness and adversarial agentic models correctly, you can have it produce seemingly good code that at least passes a smell test, and produce it very quickly, but how much power was consumed, how much water, how many utility bills show a noticeable increase? Is it really worth the time saved? Maybe slow code is good enough.
It was easy at first to say, good, leave me behind, but now... I'm having to fight a core part of my personality, one I've never had to before. I really need to examine what it is about technology in general and code in particular that calls to me, because surely it's not just the output, right? Am I that simple and basic?
Talking with a colleague about the current state of the AI ecosystem and... I really feel weird about it. It's clearly become its own skill set, and gosh darn, I can't deny wanting to learn it because I have had a lifelong instinct to learn tech skills that has served me well, professionally and personally. The idea I keep coming back to though is people are increasingly heaping rituals on top of a nondeterministic process to hopefully make it more deterministic and predictable, and now, to seemingly fit the best cost model to a given task.
@ramblingsteve The Dunning-Kruger effect is a statistical artifact, and not an actual psychological phenomenon. https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/psychology/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2022.840180/full
But I get what you're saying.
@GeePawHill Had to do a quick search, but it made me cackle.

Apparently I should feel ashamed for how I tie my shoes? And yet I don't? What a strange thing to be embarrassed by.
I should write some unit tests tomorrow morning...
@pseudonym I think Heliboard fits the bill, it's what I've been using.
@healyn We should hear both sides!
Fourth interview round didn't go well. They kept asking the same questions over and over until I was basically like, I don't know what you're looking for, but its clearly none of the five answers I've already given. Just felt rough all around.
Matched with someone who lives in my tiny ass new home city? And they're a druid?? And their voice sounds so happy and excited when they talk about their spirituality and meditation practice???

@amazing_Ekka Awesome, I sent you a friend request on Discord! My username is the same as here.
@brainblasted Gameplay-wise, it's a roguelike match-three tower defense, or at least that's the easiest way to put it. It has a retro pixel color pallette for aesthetics. And story-wise, well, it's not too much of a spoiler that you're leading a fairy court through war. But the creator of the game had the goal of having players examine how they play and relate to games, and I think he did a good job of that. I don't normally replay games, but I played through it twice in about 30 hours of gameplay. I can't recommend it enough.
Jesus Christ, the first time I implemented #matrix room creation in #thurim years ago, I was targeting, like, room version v5? Or something? Probably still wasn't doing it right.
v12 of the spec requires so much ceremony! I've spent at least 5 hours on room creation and only just now finished the plumbing for the first event in the creation chain. At least now that all that is done, the rest of the chain should be easy to write.
@amazing_Ekka Hi, found your pixel art in the rune tag, hope you don't mind me tagging you here. Would the above commission be something you're interested in?

Some additional notes on this #ArtCommission search for #thurim. The project is written in the #Elixir programming language, so I'd like to invoke their logo, a purple water droplet. Someone recently said the name makes them think of metals and #Dwarven names.
All that to say my initial idea is something like a Dwarven #rune stone, roughly in the shape of a water droplet, both metallic and purplish in color. But again, would love to hash out something with an artist.
