@mudasobwa For sure! I guess the way I posted is arguably sugar for this way.

@tylerayoung Very nice! I fall more and more in love with this language as I learn more about it.
TIL you can pattern match the module of an unknown struct in #Elixir with
%module{} = foo
This is incredible!
Made a silly tic-tac-toe game server in #Elixir to get some practice in with writing idiomatic code as well as LiveView. It's pretty much at a first draft complete state and if you wanna take a look, it's at https://github.com/serra-allgood/tic_tac_toe_ex.
I, uh, did use GitHub Copilot for bug bashing and test writing. They're really pushing LLM usage at work, and I can't avoid it anymore, so I have to practice if I want to have a job.
@lianna Oh, that's a shame
Just learned about https://www.ponylang.io/ and I'm intrigued. OO actor model with a #CapabilityModel for security. Hasn't reached version 1 yet, but I'm gonna try to keep an eye on it.
@lianna https://bonfirenetworks.org/ might be worth checking out
@KikiLaFey I dye my remaining hair vibrant colors when I can. It doesn't hide or cover up the balding, but the color is more prominent than the balding, I think.
@pnwpixel https://fedi.garden/tag/larger-post-size/ is a good place to start
So I've had a recent change in my mental health journey. Without going into detail, my psychiatrist kind of dropped a bomb on me two and a half weeks ago, and I really needed time to process it. So I met with my manager and I was honest with him; gave him all the details. In the past, being open and vulnerable at work has yielded positive outcomes. But I'm feeling kind of superfluous in my position... And now I'm really worried that they're going to find something to let me go.
So, I'm looking to #GetFediHired. I'm a software engineer recently promoted to the staff level, but happy to be in a senior position. I have over 15 years of experience in #WebTechnology, some recent experience with infra and dev ops type things. #RubyOnRails and #React, sometimes with #Typescript, have been my main frameworks, but I'm a very fast learner. My special talent is getting up to speed in large legacy code bases very quickly. I'm based in the US.
@clayfoot A post for my imaginary friends
Fuck off
@Fruan I think I've heard Rosewater say that companions were a mistake? So my guess is Rulebreaker won't support them.
@zeank I don't know about recently, but I know the maintainers had some dubious politics in the past. I believe Akkoma is a hard fork with a better community.
I experimented with AI code generation recently. I gave it a fairly complex task and it actually produced what appeared on the surface as pretty good code. I made some manual improvements to it, then logged off for the night. Came back to it after maybe a week.
You know when you come back to your own code after even a short break, you need to reread it at least a little bit? Yeah, I instantly felt the lack of familiarity with the AI code; I didn't just have to skim it, I had to really deep dive into it to understand what was going on. Luckily it wasn't much code to do so, but it really hit home for me that this is a dangerous practice. I want to be deeply familiar with any code I put my name on.
They tried to warn me, but I've grown to really hate living in a small town.

Aside, if I do manage to get back in this habit, maybe I need to work on an international team of some sort to ensure there's good working hours overlap.
Me: I miss starting my work day absurdly early, I should get back into that habit.
Work Antivirus: Sounds good, but what if I decided your browser needed to be quarantined? That would help, right?
I quietly added "he" to my list of accepted pronouns at work.
