@beeps I mean, I don't know you, but I've heard from many people of color that there's a deeply racist bent in the fediverse. I choose to believe them, even if I've curated my little bubble to the point where I don't actively see it. But I keep that bubble very small and I'm not very public in large part because of the transphobia I have actively seen.

Is that a problem of social media in general? Maybe. But I wouldn't suggest self-curation is the solution. For marginalized folk, the level of curation necessary is basically self-selecting out of the space entirely.
